(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Christmas parade theme is “Christmas Lights the Heart” and there is still time to enter the parade, but the deadline is fast approaching. The deadline to enter the event is November 22.
Entry forms are available at the Times-Mail office, the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, Bedford Federal Savings Bank, Mikels Service and online at www.bedfordchristmasparade.com.
The website also includes rules and other information about entering the parade. All entries will be judged between 4 and 5 p.m. before the parade starts.
Prizes will be award in various categories. Entry forms can be mailed to Bedford Christmas Parade, attn. Dexter Sipes, 2857 Mount Pleasant Road, Bedford, IN 47421.
"The biggest concern we have at this time is our sponsors," Sipes said. While all donations are appreciated, he said, full sponsorships cost $300. For sponsorship information or answers to other parade questions, contact Sipes at 279-3326 or 583-8027.
Christmas Parade Grand Marshals Announced
The grand marshals for this year's parade on Dec. 3 are Susan Gales, Richard Kern and Ryan Griffith. All three have worked on the Christmas parade committee and other festivals held in Bedford. Gales is the Limestone Heritage Festival chairwoman, and this will be her last year. Kern and Griffith have decorated the Lawrence County Courthouse for years and volunteered for other festival tasks.
Dexter Sipes, this years Christmas parade chairman, says he is hoping for a great turn out this year. More than 140 units participated last year. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Dec. 3.
