(BLOOMINGTON) - The old green dome that once adorned the Monroe County Courthouse sold for $2,200 at an auction Saturday at the county highway garage.
Salvage yard owner Tom Greene, say he hauled the pile to his facility in Spencer and will ponder what to do with it for a few days.
But he said money will be made off the painted-coated cooper. People from across the country called the county to inquire about the dome. He says it is likely the cooper will end up being scrap metal.
The Monroe County History Center picked up one ornamental piece of the old dome before the auction to add to its collection.
