(UNIONTOWN) - 28-year-old Summer Spurgeon, of Seymour, died Monday morning after her van collided with a semitrailer on U.S. 31 in Jackson County about a mile north of Uniontown.
Spurgeon was pronounced dead from blunt force trauma at the crash by Jackson County Coroner Roger Wheeler.
Wheeler says the driver-side door Spurgeon's southbound van collided with the driver-side door of the northbound semi, nearly colliding head-on.
Emergency workers had to cut open Spurgeon's van to free her. Police say Spurgeon was not wearing a seatbelt.
The semi driver was taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour with minor injuries. He did not know the semi driver's name.
Wheeler said Spurgeon were married and had three young children.
Indiana State Police is investigating the crash and no other information is available a this time.
