(MITCHELL) - Mitchell High School and Mitchell Junior High School were put on lockdown around 11 a.m. today after school officials and police received a tip reporting a possible gun at the school.
The notice, in turn, generated many telephone calls to school offices in Mitchell according to police.
School officials notified parents via text messages and phone calls about the lockdown.
Police were dispatched to the schools and a search was done of the buildings. Police did find an air-soft gun, but are not releasing details on where the gun was found or why the gun was at the school. The incident is still under investigation but the lockdown was lifted around 12:20 p.m.
