(LINTON) - Police say a reported armed robbery last month at a Linton service station was an inside job.
A warrant was issued Monday for 22-year-old Ashley Young, of Linton. She is being charged with theft and false informing.
Young reported an armed robbery to the Linton Police Department on Oct. 12 at the Linton Chuckles service station on State Road 54 where she was employed.
Young told police that a male wearing all black clothing, a black mask and black gloves pointed a handgun at her and demanded that she give him lottery tickets.
Young says she handed over the tickets and the would-be robber left the store.
On Nov. 3 police interviewed Young again and she admitted she stole the tickets.
Young told police she began scratching off the tickets and became behind on the winnings and was unable to pay for the tickets. She told police she reported the robbery to cover up her theft.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Young had not been arrested.
