(UNDATED) - Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says the big problem in the county remains the theft of air-conditioning units and other metal items that can be sold for scrap.
Four churches have reported the theft of air-conditioning units. Some commercial business have reported the theft of metal items.
Craig says residents need to be vigilant and watch each others property. He reported there have also been reports of thefts from vacant homes, garages and items taken from farms. Many of the places the items were taken are located in remote areas.
Anyone with information about the thefts are asked to call police.
