Bedford Woman Injured After Vehicle Hit Trees

Last updated on Wednesday, December 21, 2011

(BEDFORD) - 26-year-old Heather Mefford was hurt Monday night when she lost control of her vehicle and hit several trees.

According to a Lawrence County Police Department accident report, Mefford, 26, was southbound on Stars Boulevard near Boyd Lane when her vehicle went off the right shoulder of the road. She over-corrected and her 2002 Ford Explorer went across the street and off the other side of the road. The vehicle then crashed into several trees.

Mefford complained of neck pain at the scene and was taken to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital by ambulance. A juvenile passenger in her vehicle also was transported by the ambulance, but wasn't injured.

A blood draw was done at the hospital to determine if Mefford was drinking or using drugs.

Mefford was cited for driving left of center and driving too fast to avoid a crash.
