(BEDFORD) - Two area families were blessed this weekend when good Samaritans paid off their layaways at Kmart.
Assistant Manager Tracy Flora said the recipient of the Christmas blessing cried when she got the news her layaway was paid for.
A woman came to the store on Friday wanting to pay for a layaway. She asked Flora to search for a layaway that was delinquent and had toys in it.
Then on Saturday a man and his wife and children came to the store wanting to do the same thing - pay for someone's layaway.
Again, Flora found the perfect layaway - one belonging to a family with three children.
Flora said the trend started in Michigan, but has spread across the county. Good Samaritans are coming into stores asking to pay off someone's layaway.
Flora said the acts of kindness have brightened many hearts including the heart's of Kmart employees. She wanted to make sure these good Samaritans knew how grateful these families were.
