Linton Head State Addresses Bullying Concerns

Last updated on Monday, December 5, 2011

(LINTON) - Teachers at Linton Head Start had Child Psychologist John Day meet with teachers and parents after they noticed issues with bullying among their 3 and 4-year-old students.

Head Start Family Specialist Heather Wolfe surveys parents each month in order to see what parents would like to discuss during their monthly focus groups.

Parents were concerned about bullying issues, so teachers brought in Day to answer questions. Day is with The Willows Good Samaritan Hospital located in Vincennes

Day said he believes a bully's negative habits originate at home, where children either witness domestic abuse or are victims of child abuse. He said it is important to be able to differentiate between normal horseplay and actual bullying.

He said considering the root cause usually starts at home, the solution for bullying should begin at home as well.
