(BEDFORD) - Struggling Sears Holdings Company, which controls the Kmart and Sears chains posted a list of 70 stores that will be shutting down after a disappointing holiday season.
The Bedford and Bloomington Kmarts are not on the list.
Indiana stores on the list were in St. Johns and Indianapolis and a Sears store in Anderson. The list of 38 Kmarts and 41 Sears shops is not complete. Sears said that it plans to close between 100 to 120 stores total.
The store closings are part of a new strategy the company announced Tuesday of redirecting resources to profitable stores and ways from under performing stores.
Retail analysts believe the company, which has suffered more than four years of sales declines may be headed to bankruptcy unless it takes drastic actions.
