(UNDATED) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a hunting accident that occurred at Morgan Monroe State Forest on Thursday.
26-year-old Adam Squires and 23-year-old Ben Shows, both of Indianapolis were squirrel hunting together on a trail off Rosenbaum Road on Wednesday afternoon.
While attempting to clear his jammed gun, Shows caused the gun to fire. The shot stuck a large stone in the woods, causing two pieces of shot to ricochet back and strike Squires in the face.
Squires drove himself to Community South Hospital in Greenwood where he was treated and released. Squires had taken a Hunter Education Class many years ago, however Shows had never taken the class.
The investigation is still ongoing. It is being investigated by Indiana Conservation Officer Markie Hoskins.
