(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Clerk Myron Rainey is working on changes to the council districts. Those changes need to be made by the end of the year.
Rainey will decide if Shawswick 15A will be left in District 3 or if 15A will remain in District 1.
If left in District 1, everything would continue like it has for the past 25 years. Commissioner Dave Flinn said the district was split to accommodate the number of voters, but there is a discrepancy in regard to which road crews will cover certain roads.
Commissioner Bill Spreen said the confusing dates back years. At one point everything on the west side of I Street was taken over by District 1 road crews. That area is now in District 3.
Commissioners need to now find out how money has been divided between the districts. As of now there is no changes to commissioner districts, but the council districts have to change and be balanced according to population.
Rainey will make the necessary changes and the commissioners will approve the adjustments by passing a new ordinance.
