(SALEM) - The Salem community is in a state of shock, especially those associated with Salem Community Schools, after learning of the death of long-time Athletic Director Randy Johnson.
49-year-old Johnson served as BNL's head football coach and taught business from 1994 to 1998. He was an athletic director for Salem Community Schools and was a Salem High School Assistant Football Coach. He was a member of Indiana High School Athletic Director's Association.
Johnson died Sunday afternoon at IU Health Paoli Hospital, after suffering a heart attack.
Visitation for Johnson will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8-9 a.m. Wednesday at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Southern Hills Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
He was born Feb. 18, 1962, at Noblesville, Ind., to Maurice and Judy Kitchen Johnson.
On June 30, 1984, he married the former Betsi Boyer. She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Brenna Johnson and Kali Johnson, both of West Baden Springs; a brother, Barry Johnson, Fishers, Ind.; a sister, Lori Wallace, Columbia, La., and his parents of Salem.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Community Foundation in memory of Randy Johnson.
