(BEAN BLOSSOM) - All special weight restrictions have been removed from the State Road 135 bridge over Hopper’s Branch Creek, just south of Old Settler’s Road in Brown County.
Weight limit signs are expected to be removed by the end of business today.
A 15-ton weight limit was initially imposed on the reinforced concrete arch bridge on Dec. 1. Upon further field measurements and investigation, structural engineers recommended reopening the bridge to normal state highway traffic.
Vehicles over 40 tons gross weight must obtain an oversize vehicle permit.

"The Indiana Department of Transportation sincerely appreciates the patience of those who have been inconvenienced over the past week," said INDOT District Deputy Commissioner Kathy Eaton-McKalip. "This action was taken to ensure highway bridges have high margins of safety."
