(BLOOMFIELD) - A warrant was issued for a Timothy Williams Jr., of Bloomfield, charging him with auto theft and theft.
Police say sometime between 11 p.m. on Jan. 12th and 6 a.m. on Jan. 13th Williams is accused of stealing a 2003 Jeep Liberty and a cell phone belonging to his grandmother, Patricia Miller.
Miller told police she believes her grandson got into her purse and stole her keys and the cell phone while she was asleep. William and Miller both live with her daughter and William's mother
Miller told police that her grandson had asked to use the car, but she refused to let him because she didn't trust him and because he had been in trouble with the law in the past.
Using GPS tracking on the phone, police were able to locate the cell phone in Martinsville.
Bloomfield police notified the Indiana State Police in Bloomington and troopers were able to locate the stolen Jeep in a locked-in fenced area at Cooper's Towing in Martinsville.
Police learned that Williams had been arrested by Martinsville Police at 12:55 a.m. on Jan. 13 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and learned the vehicle was stolen and therefore impounded. They still have not found the cell phone, but learned it was locked in a warehouse in Martinsville.
