(BLOOMFIELD) - 45-year-old Beverly Cooper was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital following a single-vehicle crash north of Bloomfield early Saturday morning.
Cooper was driving a 2004 Nissan northbound on State Road 157 north of County Road 325N (Tulip Road) when she traveled off the east side of the road and stuck a utility pole at 4:55 a.m., according to Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Anthony Price. Police say the accident is still under investigation.
Cooper was trapped in the car and had to be freed by firefighters and emergency workers.
Cooper was taken to Greene County General Hospital helipad in Linton and then taken by Air Evac medical helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with severe leg injuries and facial lacerations. She was listed in serious condition this morning.
REMC electrical service was disrupted for a short time while the pole was replaced.
Assisting at the wreck scene were personnel from the Richland Township and Highland Township fire departments.
