(BEDFORD) - In 2011 the City of Bedford submitted a Stellar Communities Proposal to the Office of Community and Rural Affairs requesting over $20 million to revitalize the community.
The City of Bedford was not funded, but was one of the top proposals submitted last year, according to Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis
The heart of Bedford's Stellar Communities Proposal was revitalizing the downtown.
"In an effort to strengthen the 2012 Stellar Communities Proposal and to insure that the Bedford downtown is a top priority," said Girgis. "I am asking for the input of downtown business owners, merchants, and all interested citizens to help identify the top priorities for our downtown."
The Downtown Bedford Brainstorming Workshop will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012; 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, 1116 16th Street, Downtown Bedford.
Over the next five months the City of Bedford will be involved in a planning effort to revitalize the downtown area. If you are willing to give two hours of your time to help downtown Bedford become a destination, city officials are looking for persons who have an interest in the future of the downtown and would value an opportunity to participate in the downtown brainstorming workshop.
"A critical component in this planning effort, the workshop will give everyone an opportunity to give their input on what they would like to see downtown," Girgis said.
Feel free to invite others that have a desire to see downtown Bedford become a great destination.
