(BEDFORD) - A strong cold front is sweeping through the region, ushering in a band of snow and gusty winds.
An accumulation of about 1 to 3 inches is expected. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of the state until 1 p.m. today, due in part to the winds and blowing snow. Blustery conditions will be hanging around most of the day.
Various crews were out working early this morning making sure roads are safe to travel, but the winds are making the task difficult.
Thursday crews were seen on the highways and streets putting brine and salt on roadways. Crews will continue to watch the forecast closely and will continue to battle any weather conditions that come our way.
Lawrence and Bedford police officers are not seeing many accidents, but have worked a few slide offs. Bedford officers were working an injury accident early this morning, but no information was available at press time. Police are warning motorist to take their time and drive carefully.
The high today is expected to be in the low 20s. Temperatures will begin to rise over the weekend.
