(BROWNSTOWN) - Electric employees set up a truss for the roof on the new genealogy building at the Jackson County History Center Monday morning, Jan. 16.
The roof has one truss for every two feet. It will take 20 trusses before it is finished. "Once the roof is on, we can work inside," said Carl Shake, owner of Brownstown Electric.
"It will come up pretty quick now." Shake is donating the manpower and electrical for the new building. "It's a good project not only for Brownstown, but for Jackson County," he said.
"A lot of people work hard down here and sometimes it can go unnoticed." Shake also said Brownstown Electric plans to move a string fort replica to the center after the work on this building is complete.
The fort is currently behind the Heller house and will have to be disassembled, moved, and then reassembled at the history center.
