(DAVIESS COUNTY) - Sheriff Harbstreit has appointed Lt. Detective Gary Allison to position of Daviess County chief deputy.
The position has been vacant since former chief deputy, Ronald Morgan, was indicted on bribery and assisting a criminal charges in October 2011.
Police say Morgan tipped off a Washington woman who was making meth to avoid arrest in return for sexual favors.
The sheriff says Allison has led the detective division for the last five years and has been working on the Federal DEA Task Force in Evansville.
He began his new duties the first of the year.
