(SALEM) - A missing 31-year-old Salem man was found dead in his vehicle Sunday afternoon.
Alex Blevins was discovered Sunday afternoon by a passerby who saw Belvin's brown Mini Cooper pulled off the roadway and stopped to see if the driver needed help.
A 911 call came into the sheriff's department at 1:49 p.m. and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene on Lovell Ratts Road in Gibson Township, near Elk Creek Lake.
Because the vehicle was parked on state property, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident.
Cpl. Nathan Berry says the death appears to be a suicide. Washington County Coroner Rondale Brishaber confirmed that, but says cause of death has not been determined because he is waiting on test results. He did say an autopsy was not performed and time of death has not been established.
Blevins was reported missing Friday afternoon, by his wife Alice.
Berry says there are no pending criminal charges, but they are covering all their bases. He says police have talked everyone who may have been in contact with Blevins. He says police want to make sure everything adds up to what it appears, a suicide.
Alex and his wife have two small children together.
