(BEDFORD) - Tim Deckard was re-elected as president of the Bedford Parks Department. Butch Fish was retained as vice president and Angela Sanders as secretary.
Superintendent of Parks Mike Mitchell said new playground equipment for parks at Thornton and Wilson should arrive in February and be installed and ready for use in March.
Sanders requested the installation of a few benches for parents and guardians supervising children using the playground. New pool furniture also has been purchased for John Lowery Pool in Bedford.
Recreation Director Gary Dorsett said plans are in place for the Daddy/Daughter Sweetheart Dance at the Limestone Girls Club. Kristen Messmore will serve as guest speaker for the event, slated for Feb. 10 from 7-9 p.m. in Kari's Gym.
Dorsett emphasized the sale of tickets, $20 per couple or $25 for a dad with two or more daughters, is limited. Reservations must be made at the parks office.
Magic Morning Bakery will help sponsor the event. Light refreshments will be served prior to the dance.
Dorsett said a mother/son bowling event is tentatively set for Saturday, March 3.
The cost is $20 per couple. He said specific times and details will be announced at a later date.
