(BEDFORD) - Ronnie Frost, employed by an electric and plumbing company in Bloomington, spends his spare time ministering to inmates at incarceration centers in Lawrence and Martin counties. He also serves as a chaplain at Core nursing home in Bedford.
Frost has been preaching at the Lawrence County Jail for more than a year, replacing chaplain Dirus Dustin.
Frost, who spent most of his early life in jail, has no problem relating to inmate problems and concerns.
Frost says that one day, while reclining on his sofa, the Lord spoke to him. He says that he was moved to get up off the couch, go back and save men and women. Dustin encouraged Frost to follow in his footsteps and direct the Light Before the Son ministry.
Frost's goal is for people who don't know the Lord to come to him. He says that so many inmates need to be delivered from an addiction to drugs, alcohol and criminal bondage. He notes that many of them know no other way of life and that society tends to forget them and write them off.
Frost says there is not a lot of hope in jail. Inmates become angry and many learn to become better criminals. Frost offers them another path. He's convinced God's word is the answer.
Frost said while each inmate must make the decision to tread down the righteous path, members of the community can make the trek less arduous.
People can donate Bibles, which are given to inmates. They can also pray for the program and inmates. To assist the local inmate ministry, contact Frost at 276-5309.
