(BLOOMINGTON) - Mayor Mark Kruzan and the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter invite the public to adopt their own “Furry Valentine” in a special Valentine’s Day promotion that runs from from Feb. 13 to Feb. 19, 2012.
If you have been looking for love in all the wrong places, come to the Animal Shelter and find a Valentine who will give you a lifetime of unconditional love.
"Forget flowers and boxes of chocolate," said Mayor Kruzan. "Come to the Animal Shelter and pick out your own furry valentine for a sweetheart of a deal."
The City is promoting "My Furry Valentine" with $40 dog, cat and rabbit adoptions. The adoption fee covers a first round of vaccinations, a free visit to a local veterinary office, heartworm testing for dogs or feline leukemia/FIV testing for cats, microchip identification and spay/neuter surgery. The fee for dogs and cats younger than five years of age is regularly $75 and the fee for those more than five years of age is regularly $55.
The public can visit adoptable animals at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter located at 3410 South Walnut. The shelter is open to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from noon until 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
