(INDIANAPOLIS) - AT&T announced Wednesday the expansion of its mobile broadband network in several southwest Indiana communities in Greene, Sullivan, Knox, Vigo, and Clay counties extending access for advanced mobile services, devices and feature-rich audio and video content to customers in the area.
The expansion includes those who live, work and travel in Linton, Jasonville, Sullivan, Carlisle, Oaktown, Clay City, Martz, Pimento, and Youngstown, as well as Shakamak State Park and Sullivan County Park.
"This is great news for businesses and consumers in southwest Indiana," said State Sen. John Waterman (R-Shelburn). "In a world where innovation is driving economic growth, it is critical for those who live and work here to be connected so that they can compete in a technology driven economy."
AT&T invested more than $150 million in its wireless and wireline networks across Indiana in the first half of 2011.
"Sen. Waterman knows how important it is for Hoosiers to have access to fast and reliable wireless coverage," said AT&T Indiana President George S. Fleetwood. "He understands that this not only enhances economic opportunities, but also helps improve the quality of life for Indiana's families."
"Demand for wireless bandwidth is growing rapidly, and we want to meet that demand for our customers," said Brian Ducharme, vice president and general manager, AT&T Indiana and Michigan. "We're excited to expand mobile broadband to these areas in southwest Indiana."
