(BEDFORD) - Becky’s Place is a new shelter in Bedford for women and children in need of emergency assistance and housing.
The shelter is in its final stages of preparation and will hold an open house on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the facility at 1108 Fifth Street.
The fundraising dinner that was to be held on that day has been postponed.
Volunteers are needed and welcomed to help put the finishing touches on the shelter facility. Also, over the next few weeks, there is a need for daily volunteers to help sort clothing and donations and finish cleaning/preparing the building for women and children. Bethany will begin coordinating volunteers this Monday following the work day, so if anyone is interested in helping, contact Bethany Morris, shift manager at (812) 675-2392 as soon as possible.
Officials thank the community for all the support and prayers, as they get Becky's Place ready for residents. They also ask people to consider how they might help this new ministry.
