(BEDFORD) - The Becky’s Place fundraiser dinner scheduled for Saturday has been postponed so that a community open house can take place instead.
The shelter for women and children at 1108 5th St. will be open from 2-5 p.m.
"We want to ensure the community gets a chance to get in the building and see it before residents get in," said Cami Pritchett, Executive Director of Becky's Place. "We wouldn't be where we are without the community for all their volunteer hours, and donations. It's important to let the community see it and know we appreciated their efforts."
Pritchett said the building is close to being able to receive residents, pending a final inspection.
"We've had to have our systems inspected and have all our safety systems up to code," she said. "We're still completing the process of inspections."
She said she won't know an official opening date until the last inspection is signed off.
The dinner, which will take place at the new St. Vincent de Paul Parish Life Center, will be rescheduled.
