(BEDFORD) - A Bedford couple who were involved in a crash Monday remain hospitalized for the injuries they suffered.
71-year-old Russell Cox is in the intensive care unit at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital with broken ribs and a shoulder injury. His wife, 69-year-old Linda, was Lifelined to Methodist Hospital and is still being treated there for a closed head injury, broken ribs, a broken pelvis and a broken ankle.
According to a family member, both will have to spend some time in rehab centers before returning home.
Cox was driving east on 18th Street and turning southbound onto M Street when a semi ran a red light and crashed into the van Cox was driving.
The semi, driven by 58- year-old Jerry L. Ware of Cincinnati, was cited for disregarding an automatic signal. Ware was driving for Transfreight, LLC.
The crash happened at 12:31 p.m. Monday.
The Cox couple had their dog Ruby with them. The animal was not injured and was taken to White River Humane Society until a family member could pick up the pet.
