Bidletting Delayed For Stretch Between Paoli and Prospect

Last updated on Monday, February 13, 2012

(PAOLI) - Bidletting has been delayed for improvements planned on the eastern stretch of U.S. 150/ Ind. 56 between Paoli and Prospect.

It was currently set for March, but now will be in October according to INDOT project manager Chris Gentry.

The delay came after INDOT received information in August that a local resident whose property was considered an historical homestead and in the line of the project.

They are currently reviewing some alternate designs in that area so they can keep the property intact.

The project is also being impacted because of a state regulation associated with protecting the Indiana bat.

Gentry says a restriction period running from April 1st to Sept 30, will be in effect, meaning no trees can be cut that are suitable for bat habitation. There are three sites that have been identified as bat habitation in a section of improvements from Prospect to about five miles west of Paoli.
