(BEDFORD) - Arjent Imeri, a student in 4th grade at Burris Elementary, won the elementary school round at the 38th Annual WBIW Lawrence County Spelling Bee.
Participants in the spelling bee included:
Arjent returns today to compete against 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The spelling bee will be held at Shafer Auditorium at Bedford Middle School at 4 p.m. and is open to the public.
All participants for both days received a certificate of participation and a WBIW tee shirt.
Finalists will receive a WBIW Lawrence County Spelling Bee trophy and a silver dollar donated by Bedford Federal.
The spellers today will compete for the WBIW Overall Champion Bee Trophy, $100 cash prize from WBIW and a silver dollar from Bedford Federal Savings Bank and the right to compete in the Regional spelling bee in Louisville for a chance to win a $5,000 savings bond.
The contest will be aired and streamed online at 6 p.m. today on 1340 AM WBIW.
