(LINTON) - The Linton based Indiana National Guard company a 1- 151st combat team, The Avengers, is again preparing for deployment into a war zone for the third time since 2003.
They are expected to leave for pre-mobilization training at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center in late July, and then depart in October for Afghanistan, according to Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Eric Derue.
About 550 guardsmen from neighboring units in Washington, Vincennes, Martinsville, Jasper, Winchester and Evansville will join the Linton unit for deployment.
The troop is now waiting on their mobilization order which is anticipated in the next 30 days. The troop will provide security for provincial reconstruction teams.
