NLCS School Calendar Set

(BEDFORD) - The North Lawrence Community Schools school board adopted the school calendar for the 2012-2013 school year.

Classes will begin on August 13. There will be a two day fall break, a 3-day break for Thanksgiving and Christmas break will begin Dec. 20th with students returning to school on Jan. 3rd. The last day for student will be May 30th. The calendar also allows for 7 snow days.

Some highlights of the 2012-13 calendar:

Aug. 13: First teacher day
Aug. 14: First student day
Sept. 3: Labor Day (no school)
Oct. 18-19: Fall break (no school)
Nov. 21-23: Thanksgiving break (no school)
Dec. 20: Last student day before Christmas break (also the end of the first semester)
Jan. 3: First student day after Christmas break
Jan. 21: No school (but will be a make-up day in case of bad weather)
Feb. 4: No school (but will be a make-up day in case of bad weather)
Feb. 18: Presidents Day and no school (but will be a make-up day in case of bad weather)
March 22: No school (but will be a make-up day in case of bad weather)
March 25-29: Spring break (no school)
April 8: No school (but will be a make-up day in case of bad weather)
April 25: No school (but will be a make-up day in case of bad weather)
April 26: No school (but will be a make-up day in case of bad weather)
May 27: Memorial Day (no school)
May 30: Last student day
May 31: Last teacher day

In other business:

* The school board will conduct the Summer Food Service meal program at Bedford Middle School. The program will begin June 4 and continue until August 3.

* The school board also donated lockers the school is no longer using to Becky's Place.
