(BLOOMFIELD) - A rural Springville man was sentenced to four years in prison after he stole tools from his employer’s garage. (GC DAILY WORLD)
26-year-old William Harper was arrested in October 2011 and charged with burglary and theft.
He pleaded guilty to one count of burglary in a negotiated plea agreement. In exchange, the theft charge was dropped. He was sentenced by Greene County Circuit Court Judge Erik Allen to four years in the department of corrections with two years suspended. His sentence will be served at the Greene County Community Corrections Work Release Center.
He was also put on two years probation and ordered to pay the victim Robert Reed $872.50 in restitution.
According to a probable cause affidavit police say Harper went to the home of his former boss Robert Reed, on Slick Road, and kicked in the garage door and stole a variety of air-operated tools on Sept. 15, 2011.
Harper had been fired from Reed's employment for theft. Police were able to find the stolen tools at Ace Pawn Shop and Tom Cats Pawn Shop in Bloomington.
