Storm Threat Ramps Up With Warmth This Week

Last updated on Tuesday, February 28, 2012

(BEDFORD) - By late today, a storm system could bring some showers and thunderstorms into the region, with a better chance of storms on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center indicates that severe thunderstorms will be possible across a large chunk of the U.S.

Most of central Indiana is not in the risk area, but the forecast could change over the next couple of days.

Storms could rumble through the region beginning late tonight and lasting into much of the day on Wednesday bringing strong winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.

High temperatures on Wednesday are expected to jump into the mid-60s, but a cold front will put an end to the mild temps.

Highs will be back in the 40s before another warming trend late in the week, preceding more seasonable temperatures by next weekend.

The forecast will bear close watching for the chance of a severe weather threat.
