(UNDATED) - It was probably inevitable: a homespun symbol of Super Bowl 46 in Indianapolis is now fetching bids on eBay.
Thursday hundreds of the blue and white scarves worn by Super Bowl volunteers have landed on the online auction site, with bidders offering as much as $150.
Knitters from 46 states and foreign countries made more than 13,000 of the scarves for the Indianapolis host committee to hand out to volunteers and VIPs. The wraps include the official Super Bowl Indianapolis logo.
Host committee spokeswoman Dianna Boyce says selling the scarves wasn't the original intent of thanking the unpaid volunteers but she notes that, "it's a free market."
