(HELTONVILLE) - Three teens were injured after the truck they were riding in crashed into a tree Saturday night.
According to Lawrence County police reports the accident happened on Dunn Bridge Road around 9:16 p.m.
Police say the 1994 truck had been moved by the owner and the driver's father.
Police say the father towed the truck to his home in Heltonville after he received a call from his son.
Police say the 16-year-old driver was traveling east on Dunn Bridge Road and was attempting to shift gears when the leg of his 16-year-old passenger got caught under the steering wheel making it difficult to steer the truck. The truck left the roadway and hit a tree.
The driver suffered minor facial bleeding. The 16-year-old passenger suffered a possible broken arm. Another 14-year-old passenger complained of head pain. Both passengers were taken to I.U. Health Hospital for treatment. The driver refused medical treatment and another passenger was not injured during the incident.
The driver was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.
