(BEDFORD) - Two people suffered minor injuries after they crashed their vehicles on Younger Road Saturday afternoon.
According to Lawrence County Police reports, both drivers say the other crossed the center line.
According to police a 17-year-old female from Bedford was traveling south on Younger Road when she topped the hill and noticed a pickup driven by 22-year-old Joshua Hill, of Bedford, on her side of the road.
The girl told police she tried to avoid the crash and hit the gas instead of the brake and that caused the vehicle to go off the roadway into a ditch. She then reported that she hit a log and then went through a barbed wire fence and stopped in a field.
However Hill told police that he was traveling north on Younger Road and when he topped the hill, the girl's 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was on his side of the road. Hill told police he tried to avoid the crash and crashed into a tree. Hill did not have a seatbelt on and was talking on the phone when the accident happened.
Police say there were skid marks on the roadway from the truck and they believe he was not left of the center line.
The girl complained of neck and back pain. Hill had minor facial bleeding following the incident.
