(BEDFORD) - Becky’s Place, at 1108 5th Street, is awaiting the results of a final inspection so the shelter can open its doors to homeless women and children.
The shelter, operated under the direction of Catholic Charities, is the result of several months of active planning and development.
Executive Director Cami Pritchett says that the shelter has five case managers and shift supervisors to help residents get back on their feet as quickly as possible. The maximum stay is 90 days. Women will be evaluated after each 30-day stay to make sure they are keeping commitments and working toward their plan. Extensions will be granted as needed.
Volunteers are needed to help in the office and kitchen, and as tutors and with maintenance. Volunteers also can come in and do specific things such as a crocheting or cooking class.
To contact the shelter call 275-5773.
