(BLOOMINGTON) - 25-year-old James Brown did not expect his girlfriend, 18-year-old Olivia McKenzie, to attack him and several others after he decided to break up with her.
Bloomington Police Department Lt. Bill Parker says James Brown's sister-in-law, 31-year-old Shannon Brown, called police to request an ambulance just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
James Brown attempted to break up with McKenzie, who is currently carrying his child, at his home in the 3100 block of South Walnut Street Pike. That is where Brown decided to break up with his girlfriend.
McKenzie didn't take the news well and responded by allegedly attempting to strangle James Brown and was hitting him.
Parker says that other present family members attempted to pull McKenzie off Brown and that is when she allegedly turned on them.
McKenzie allegedly attacked 49-year-old Jerry McKenzie and Shannon Brown by kicking, shoving and pulling their hair.
McKenzie left the home before police arrived they found her in the 100 block of Kennedy Court. She was arrested and charged with strangulation, domestic battery and misdemeanor battery.
