(TAYLORSVILLE) - A single-vehicle accident killed a 34-year-old woman and injured her two children Saturday afternoon, shutting down three lanes of Interstate 65 for at least 2½ hours.
Gerry Duncan, of Chattahoochee, Fla., lost control of her northbound SUV near the 76 mile marker at about 4:40 p.m., said Maj. Todd Noblitt, chief deputy of Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.
The vehicle rolled into the median, ejecting Duncan, who landed in the southbound lanes. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death has not been determined.
Noblitt said Duncan's 12-year-old daughter, Ariel Williams, was flown by helicopter to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Her condition was unknown as of 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Duncan's son, Tyrone Williams, 17, was treated and released from Columbus Regional Hospital.
