(UNDATED) - Most Hoosiers will need to turn their clocks forward before going to bed this Saturday night.
At 2 a.m. this Sunday, March 11, we will springing our clocks forward for Daylight Saving Time (DST).
The bad news: we will lose an hour of our day. The good news: sunset will continue an hour later in the day.
The state began observing DST in April 2006, but not all counties observe Eastern Time rules. There are 12 Indiana counties that observe Central Daylight Time, six are located in the northwest Indiana near Chicago and another six are in southwest Indiana, including Evansville.
For 20 years, Daylight Saving Time began the first Sunday in April and ended the last Sunday in October. But starting in 2007, a major change in DST took effect as part of a federal energy bill passed by Congress. It moved the start of Daylight Saving Time to the second Sunday in March and the end to the first Sunday in November.
