(JOHNSON COUNTY) - Police say Kenny Wiggins may have been impaired when he collided with a Johnson County school bus Friday morning.
It happened in the 6500 block of State Road 44 around 6:30 am. Police say Wiggins was driving a silver sedan eastbound when he crossed the center line and hit the school bus at around 35 mph.
The driver and three children on the bus were not injured. Wiggins had a head injury and his car had heavy front end damage.
Wiggins told police he was driving to Franklin to pick up his son for a doctor's appointment. He also says he must have fallen asleep because he didn't remember much of the crash.
Wiggins told police he had not consumed alcohol or any drugs. However, a man driving behind Wiggins told police he witnessed Wiggins drive off the road several times and left of center.
Police took Wiggins to the hospital for a blood test to determine if he was under the influence. He was cited for not wearing a seat belt and driving left of center.
