(BROWNSTOWN) - While police were arresting a Medora man on a warrant they found possible drug activity at his home.
According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department police went to a home in the 100 block of West Washington Street to serve an arrest warrant for driving while suspended on 32-year-old Charles A. Root. While there police noticed several illegal drug items.
Officers obtained a search warrant and returned. During the search they found marijuana, paraphernalia, a controlled substance and other items.
Root was then charged with possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor, and maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony.
Three other individuals at the home were also arrested:
Amy D. Burrell, 20, of Medora faces charges of maintaining a common nuisance; possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony; and possession of marijuana less than 30 grams, a Class A misdemeanor.
Chasity D. Muns, 26, of Medora faces a charge of a Class B misdemeanor charge of visiting a common nuisance.
Timothy S. Mejean, 28, of Freetown faces a charge of possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.
The four were taken to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown and will remain there until they post bond or have their initial court hearing.
Jackson County Sheriff's Department Officer Jeff Walters was assisted by county officers Adam Nicholson and Rick Meyer, county Reserve Officer John Sweeney, Medora Town Marshal Steve Ingle and Medora Officer Sharon Ingle and Indiana State Trooper Seth Davidson.
