Freeze Watches Issued For Parts of Indiana

Last updated on Monday, March 26, 2012

(UNDATED) - Near-freezing temperatures are expected across Central Indiana by early Tuesday morning.

Today is expected to remain cool and dry throughout the day, with some clouds and light winds increasing by early afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be in the 60's.

Temperatures are expected to drop overnight with lows reaching around the freezing mark, resulting in a frost advisory until 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service of Indianapolis said temperatures will fall to the low to mid-30's for several hours early Tuesday morning.

Meteorologist Jennifer Ketchmark said areas north and east of Indianapolis have the best chance for a hard freeze. Plants will likely be damaged in these areas if they are not covered.

Due to the unseasonably warm weather in Central Indiana over the past several weeks, plants have already begun to bud. These plants may be vulnerable to the freezing conditions.

If you have potted plants, bring them into your home. Ground plants should be covered to protect them from the potential frost.
