During the dispute, Joe Hollars, of Bloomfield, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen by gunfire from a high-power rifle that police say was fired from a distance away.
Greene County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Major Mike Hasler said Hollars, lives in a mobile home at 1724 Lawrence Hollow Road. He was shot while inside his trailer from a weapon that was fired outside his home.
Hollars underwent surgery at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital late Wednesday afternoon.
No condition report is available through the hospital.
Kelby Lee Roberts, 20, of 1660 North Algood Drive, rural Bloomfield, was arrested shortly after the shooting and faces a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
He remains in jail on a $10,000 surety bond.
Authorities expect him to make an initial court appearance today.
