(COLUMBUS) - A Johnson County fire official will be the city’s next fire chief.
Joel Thacker, a 20-year veteran of the White River Township Fire Protection District, was chosen by Mayor Kristen Brown from a pool of applicants that included nine from within the Columbus Fire Department.
Brown said she settled on Thacker, a staff battalion chief, because of his demonstrated ability to broaden the scope of firefighting services to include additional rescue and emergency medical services.
