(UNDATED) - Kindergarten Screening continues this week at North Lawrence Schools, with Dollens today and Shawswick on Friday.
The following is information on local kindergarten screenings.
North Lawrence Community Schools:
The Lawrence County Health Department will offer vaccinations at all kindergarten roundups for children with no insurance, those with insurance that does not cover vaccines and children who are on Medicaid.
Parents should call the school to make an appointment prior to the screening date. On the day of the screening, parents should bring the child, the child's birth certificate and immunization records, and proof of custody (if applicable). Required Immunizations for school enrollment are: 5 doses of DTaP/DTP/DT, 4 doses of polio, 2 doses MMR, 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine, 2 doses of Varicella, or date of chickenpox disease. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1.
Hatfield
Mitchell Community Schools' annual Kindergarten Roundup will be May 3-5 at Hatfield Elementary School. Sessions will be scheduled every 30 minutes from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and noon to 1:30 p.m.
Each child and parent must have a scheduled time. Call 849-3834 for an appointment. Registration and screening is expected to take less than one hour. Children will receive a free packet of information.
Children who will be 5 years old on or before August 1 and whose residence is in the MCS district are eligible to enroll for kindergarten screening. The child's birth date must be verified by a state- issued birth certificate. School nurse Debbie Chastain will check immunization records and will advise to future needs. Bring this information to the screening
Shakamak Elementary
Shakamak Elementary School will conduct kindergarten round-up April 8 from 9 a.m. - noon, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., and 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Children who are 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 are eligible for enrollment. Kindergarten packets are available in the elementary office. Packets should be picked up prior to round-up.
Linton
It's time to pre-enroll students for the 2010-11 Linton kindergarten classes. During the month of April the school needs to know the names of those students who will be taking the kindergarten screening in May. Children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, may take the screening which will be given in the kindergarten rooms in the elementary school on May 7. As pre-enrollment information is received, each child will be given an appointment time to come in for screening. Anyone who needs a pre-enrollment form should contact the elementary school office at 847-6039.
Bloomfield Elementary
Bloomfield Elementary School will hold kindergarten registration for the 2010-11 school year from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. April 2 at the elementary school. Parents may enter the school from South Street at the superintendent's office with registration in the Literacy Lab. Students must be by 5 years of age by Aug. 1. Please bring the following information: child enrolling, immunization record, social security number, copy of birth certificate, proof of residence (township) and emergency phone numbers. White River Valley Lyons and Worthington Elementary
White River Valley Lyons and Worthington Elementary School will conduct kindergarten enrollment April 16. At Worthington, pre-enrollment will be alphabetically by last name on the day of enrollment. 1 p.m. - last name beginning with "A" through "M", and 2 p.m. - last name beginning with "N" through "Z." Lyons pre-enrollment will be anytime between noon and 2 p.m. on the day of enrollment.
Washington Community Schools
Washington Community Schools announced that kindergarten pre-registration will be held during the week of April 12 to 16. Bring child's birth certificate and immunization (shot) records to the office of the elementary school located in the school district where you live. In addition to registering their child, parents will sign up for a time for kindergarten screening. The school nurse will copy and check immunization records as part of the kindergarten registration. All immunizations must be completed by the first day of school.
Loogootee Elementary
Loogootee Elementary is planning to have a kindergarten round up Thursday, April 5. Principal Laura Mattingly says they are still working on a schedule for the day and more information will be available soon.
Orleans Elementary
Children who will be 5 on or before Aug. 1 are eligible to attend kindergarten during the 2012-13 school year. Kindergarten screening will be offered in Orleans on April 13.
Parents or guardians may call Orleans Elementary School at 865-2688, extension 3, beginning March 12 to schedule an appointment. The screening will acquaint parents/guardians and the child with skills that will be taught in kindergarten and readiness activities that can be used at home to help prepare the child for kindergarten.
When calling, have the child's name and nickname, the child's date of birth, the child's gender, the parent's name(s), address and phone number.
Parents/guardians must bring the following information to the screening: The child's birth certificate; the child's immunization records; and the child's social security card.
Throop Elementary School, Paoli

A waiver may be granted by the superintendent for students whose 5th birthday falls on or between Aug. 2 and Sept. 1.
Monroe Community Schools
Pre-enrollment for kindergarten begins April 2. Children must be five years old on or before August 1st to enroll in kindergarten. Parents should contact the principal to request an early enrollment waiver for children who will be five years old between August 2nd and August 31st.
