(LOOGOOTEE) - The Loogootee Board of Public Works and Safety approved a policy on the use of tasers by police officers.
The policy was reviewed by City Attorney Mark Jones before it was brought to the board for approval.
Police Cheif Kelly Rayhill said his department has tasers, but the officers must be trained in their use before being allowed to use them. He hopes to complete that training this month.
Rayhill said the policy includes guidelines on when and where tasers should be used, and what parts of the body they should be used on.
The board also approved:
The hiring of Brandon Inman and Justin Davis to the city's fire department.
the promotion of Police officer Jason Hennette from sergeant to captain.
