(GREENE COUNTY) - Tuesday was not a good day for culprits to be illegally scrapping for metal or stealing in Greene County. (GC Daily World)
In two separate incidents in Wright Township, police arrested four men on theft charges.
The first incident happened at 2:41 p.m. when police found two men loading metal items into a truck at the old abandoned coal mine buildings near the intersection of County Road 700N and County Road 1100W, not far from Midland.
Deputy James O'Malley says the two men, 39-year-old Timothy Greene, of London, Ky., and 28-year-old Andrew Campbell, of Linton, were scrapping for metal.
Greene was also wanted on a warrant for criminal mischief in Whitley County. He was taken to the Greene County Jail and then released to Whitley authorities.
Campbell was released, but theft charges are pending against him and Greene.
Less than four hours later, two other men were arrested on preliminary charges of theft near a vacant home near County Road 900N and County Road 1500W in Wright Township.
Jasonville Police Officer Brian Pilant received a telephone call at 6:12 p.m. reporting two men were walking around the property.
Police found 58-year-old Aaron Deckard, of Lawrence Hollow in Bloomfield, and 44-year-old Herschel Lake, of Bloomington. The men had a bag of tools.
Both were arrested and charged with theft.
