Popular Wildflower Hike Scheduled

Last updated on Friday, March 23, 2012

(BEDFORD) - There are still plenty of slots available for the annual White River RC&D Wildflower Hike on April 14th. The popular event will again be led by Kay Yatskievych, author of `Field Guide to Indiana Wildflowers’.

As a result of overwhelming interest and having to turn people away in past years, this year Yatskievych will lead two hike sessions. Both identical sessions will be conducted at Jackson-Washington State Forest near Brownstown. This area already appears to be a beautiful area for spring wildflowers. A maximum of 25 people are accepted for each session and they are filling up, so interested people should call in soon. A modest fee is charged.

The hikes are co-sponsored by Sycamore Land Trust and co-led by Carroll Ritter, who chairs the White River RC&D Forestry Committee and serves as Environmental Education Specialist for Sycamore Land Trust.

For reservations or further information email forestryRCD@gmail.com or call the Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District office at (812) 723-3311 Ext. 3 and ask for Ginger.
